After “Joey Hicks” was fired and publicly exposed as a fraud, Tang relocated from Toronto to nearby Hamilton and assumed a new identity – “Chef Kai.” He created an Instagram site “@bespoke_chef” in which he posted pirated images of gourmet dishes and falsely claimed to have traveled and worked in famous international restaurants.  In reality, Tang is a self-taught short order cook with modest culinary skills and experience.  On another Instagram site – "@bespoke_luxury_dealer" – Tang falsely claimed to be a certified gem expert with decades of experience, and posted pirated images of antique watches and jewelry which he claimed to possess and offer for sale.  Under the guise of Chef Kai, and frequenting pawn shops and jewelry stores, Tang proceeded to defraud and steal valuables and funds from numerous victims in the Toronto – Hamilton area.  Faced with growing pressure from victims, Tang fled in July 2020 to Niagara Falls, where he resided at the Upper Vista Condos, worked at a local kitchen, and was linked to the numbers 416-230-1848 (cell) and 438-223-1060 (WhatsApp). Surveillance has also associated him with the following locations:  508 Wellington Street West, Toronto - 7711 Green Vista Gate,  Niagara Falls - and more recently on Johnson Street in Niagara-On-The Lake. He is believed to be still working and living in the NOTL area with links to The Epicurean restaurant. He faces multiple charges of mail fraud, theft, money laundering, shop lifting, tax evasion and making false statements to provincial authorities.  He is considered a flight risk and may be planning to flee to Ottawa where he has family. Authorities in Mexico and Indonesia, countries that he has visited in the past under the guise of an asian art expert, have also been alerted to the fact that he has been making inquiries to return to those countries.
